In April 1985, Kim Johnson started Akela Construction Ltd. in order to meet the needs of clientele looking to build small to midsized projects. The thinking back then was simple – work with a select group of trusted subtrades, service clients one project at a time, build on past performance with repeat customers. Twenty five years later, Akela Construction has grown into a small family business, based on same philosophy.
Akela is a small, but ambitious general contracting firm that specializes in unique and challenging projects in the commercial and industrial sectors in and around the Calgary area. In recent years, Akela has grown to take on new clients, however we still honour our founding philosophy.
Today, our current clientele includes NuFarm Agriculture, Brewsters Brewing Company and Restaurant, XL Foods Inc., and the City of Calgary. However, as the local economy grows, our goal is to grow with and meet the needs of the community. Our goal is to continue doing quality small to midsized projects, and continue to service clients one project at a time.
